Teck Whye NPCC unit - the millennium
FORMATION SIGN: TECK WHYE SECONDARY SCHOOL

TWSS NPCC:

The school NPCC unit was formed as an extra curricular activity in 1968 to meet the demands and interest of students in uniformed groups. The aim of the unit was to instil a sense of discipline, commitment and co-operation between students of different races, through a wide range of activities from drills to adventure training.

Significance of formation sign / school crest:

1. The open book symbolizes learning and knowledge

2. The four-pointed star is an infusion and diffusion of all good values and influence from the cardinal points

3. The blue shield is symbolic of strength and security that wards off bad influences. It enables a protection to all that seek the portals of the school. The colour blue depicts calmness and reflects the ‘open’ skies and ‘vast’ sea

4. The school’s motto and strength “To Strive and Not to Yield”

5. The grey stripes represent the multi-ethnic groups of our society that are different but bound by a common goal and purpose.

6. The “winner’s laurel” symbolizes achievement in sporting excellence.
