Inter-Unit Checkers Competition 2007
On 13 of March 2007, Teck Whye NPCC Unit hosted the 5th Checkers competition. 11 schools took part in this event and I am sure all of them had a memorable day at Teck Whye Secondary. The competition was made possible with the presence of CI James ,CI Wing Kiong and our HO Foo Chang as our judges. Under their supervision and assistance, the event went smoothly without any glitches. Albeit with our strong participants Oh Hui Qi and Qairunissa, we came in the fourth position. All participants really tried their best and never gave up on any chances to outwit their opponents. The competition was tough and exciting as each representative, sent by their schools, was an expert in checkers. After 4 rounds of harsh competition, Chestnut Drive Secondary School shone through as Champions while Hwa Chong Institution and Tanglin Secondary School came in as 1st and 2nd runner ups. The other participants who did not come in the top 3 were not discouraged and their positive sportsmenship was worth commending. To sum up this event, I believe everyone enjoyed each others’ company and also made new friends in the process.
