Teck Whye NPCC unit - the millennium
5th Batch NCO training camp
Date : 2 June to 4 June 2007
Venue : Teck Whye Secondary school Compound
Level Involved : Sec 1s - 3 ( a certain amount of pupils)

A 3 days 2 night camp organize and and run by S/NCOs, CIs , HO and TO. We spent the days in the camp, learning ways to bond with one another and how to help each other in the camp, when everyone's presence is important to the group. We cooked our own instant food for 2 meals in the first day and we had a lot of games and interesting activities held on the three days.

On the first day, we had a sharing time where we need to relate the pictures we selected to NPCC. It brought back sweet and bitter memories which we spent in NPCC and we had a great laugh out of some cadets' comments. Other than having trainings on each wednesday, we could hardly find time out of our curriculum and we enjoyed ourselves by sharing experiences we went through. We also had great fun trying to set up a fire using solid fuels just to cook our lunch and even though we had limited time to cook and wash our utensils, we still work well in our group and it enforces teamwork and leadership in each group. At night, we had some games and a lecture on revolvers and we did night sentry duty. It was really spooky but we were all very excited about it as we are given a chance to train our guts and we all had fun trying to figure out where to go.

On the next day, we had a fire drill in the morning as early as 5 ++ in the morning and we had to packed all our stuffs in the dark and find our way out of the hall to the assembly ground. As we were really late, we were punished to run rounds and do pumpings. In the afternoon, we had drills conducted by our CIs and we had serveral tent check. We also had a few lectures given by our S/NCOs and we had a lot of games in the AVA room. We play games and sang songs with our CIs, HO and OC and we move around from places to places in an orderly manner fast as we know that time is precious. We also know the importance of teamwork when we tried to built a tent. We even had various creative punishments when we spoke in our mother tongue and we had to either hug a pole or pillar and shout out " I love NPCC! " It was great fun, seeing our squad mates being punished and we all learn and from here we learn how to respect everyone as our S/NCOs did not humilate us when we did something wrong, but to let us learn through ' creative punishments'.We even had a movie marathon and we watched shrek 3 before going to bed. It was cool and special as we are the first uniform group given a chance to sleep in the AVA room.

The last day was slacker and not as strict as compared to the past two days and we all did our packing of tents and stuff real fast. We also had a few games of captain balls before dismissal. It was really fun but everyone was so tired that we all went back home looking really beat and lethargic but we indeed enojoyed ourselves and brought back useful informations and experiences home
